Questions

EV charger questions

How long does an EV charger installation take?

Most home installations are done in a single visit. James will tell you how long yours should take after the survey, because it depends on the cable route and your fuse board.

Will I need a new fuse board?

Not always. Some older fuse boards or supplies need upgrading before a charger can go in. James checks this at the survey and explains the options and costs before any work starts.

Which charger should I get?

James can recommend a charger to suit your car, your budget and whether you want a built-in cable. Home chargers sold in the UK must be smart chargers, so you can schedule charging for cheaper off-peak times.

Do I need off-street parking?

Usually, yes. A home charger needs to be on your property, close to where you park. Running a cable across a public pavement isn't normally allowed, so ask James if you aren't sure.

Do you install chargers for businesses and new builds?

Yes. James installs chargers for businesses and on new builds, where Building Regulations Part S requires charge points for new homes with parking.

Thinking about a home charger?

Send James a photo of your fuse board and where you'd like the charger, and he'll take it from there.
